OAK HILL, W.Va. — Oak Hill used a 9-0 run in between the third and fourth quarters to hand Robert C. Byrd their first loss of the season, 66-60 at the Lilly Center.
The Red Devils (5-2) bounced back from losses to Class AAA opponents George Washington and Capital prior to the Christmas break. The Flying Eagles fell to 5-1.
Andrew Work led Oak Hill with a game-high 21 points and Dante Billeter added 19 in a rare start.
RCB placed four players in double figures. Khori Miles led the way with 14 points. Bryson Lucas and Gavin Kennedy each scored a dozen and Tanner Kennedy added 11.
Robert C. Byrd led 30-29 at halftime but Oak Hill took the lead for good by scoring the final seven points of the third quarter.
“We sped them up a little bit and they took quick shots,” said Oak Hill head coach Benitez Jackson. “They are a good team so they made some good shots and played us evenly. They run their offense really well. I thought when we went on the run we sped them up a little bit and when they did miss we didn’t give them second shots.”
