Two judges to be sworn in Wednesday

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Two West Virginians will be sworn in as state circuit judges in separate ceremonies on Wednesday.

Thomas Ewing will be sworn in as the judge presiding over the Fayette County Judicial County; Ewing, a native of Fayette County, most recently served as an attorney with the Kay, Casto & Chaney law firm, including as managing member of the firm’s Fayetteville office from 2015 to 2018.

Shawn David Nines will become the judge in the Barbour and Taylor counties judicial circuit. Gov. Jim Justice appointed Nines to the position on Dec. 11 to the position, which was created in last year’s legislative session

Nines had been an attorney with his own practice in Grafton since 2007. He previously served as an assistant prosecuting attorney in either Taylor or Barbour counties since 2007, as well as city attorney for Grafton.
