Man arrested in Nicholas County on kidnapping, sexual assault charge

SUMMERSVILLE, W.Va. — A Nicholas County man is in custody on multiple charges after he allegedly attacked a woman.

Nicholas County sheriff’s deputies have charged Bradley Backus, 38, of Mount Nebo, with kidnapping and second degree sexual assault.

It’s alleged Backus picked up the victim Sunday evening, took her to his home, tied her up and sexually assaulted her. Deputies said he dropped her on the side of the road where she was able to flag down help.

Backus is being held in the Central Regional Jail without bail.
