MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — A man suspected in two separate shooting incidents in Monongalia County was taken into custody in Michigan.
Imani “Trump” Cody, 21, of Detroit, was arrested Wednesday evening by the U.S. Marshals Service in Detroit.
Cody is wanted by the Morgantown Police Department and the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office on separate counts of attempted murder and wanton endangerment.
Morgantown Police have linked Cody to a Dec. 12 shooting at a Brockway Avenue home. The shooting was not initially reported to police.
Detectives with the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office believe Cody is the same suspect in a Dec. 9 shooting at the Marjorie Gardens Apartment complex. There were no injuries reported in that incident.
Cody was attempting to entire a vehicle when police engaged, according to the Marshals Service. He reportedly attempted to run, was subdued, and continued to resist arrest while being handcuffed.
Cody will appear in a Wayne County Court in Michigan for extradition proceedings before returning to Monongalia County to face his charges.
