CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A student at Charleston Catholic High School is in custody after being charged with terroristic threats via a juvenile petition.
The Charleston Police Department said in a release on Tuesday that the department received information Monday night of possible terroristic threats involving a juvenile male student at the school.
The school closed Tuesday in connection with threat but Charleston Police Department spokesperson Lt. Autumn Davis said there was “no immediate threat” and police made every effort possible to ensure the student would not have access to any firearms.
Information provided to police said that a student at the school was making his hand into the shape of a gun and pointing it at students and the student making the threat allegedly told a friend not to come to school the next day, Jan. 22, per release.
The Charleston Police Department said they consulted with the Kanawha County Prosecutor’s Office regarding the information obtained during the investigation.
The student was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon.
