Justice names McVey to lead Department of Administration

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Gov. Jim Justice announced Wednesday he has appointed Allan McVey as the next Secretary of Administration.

McVey began serving as state insurance commissioner in March 2017. He fills a vacancy left in the Department of Administration following the September departure of now-Lottery Director John Myers.

“Allen has done a fantastic job as our insurance commissioner. During his tenure he has streamlined operations in his office, eliminated unnecessary positions and has saved taxpayer dollars,” Justice said. “I am confident he will bring his skills to the table and do a wonderful job as Secretary of Administration.”

McVey previously served as vice president and agency manager for BB&T-Carson Insurance Services in Charleston.
