Katlyn French, age 20, had not seen this big boy in over a year ..until the moment he stepped in front of her stand. Now, he resides on her den wall.

CROSS LANES, W.Va. — A preschool teacher and college student is the January winner in the Ram Trucks Trophy Photo Contest.

Katlyn French of Cross Lanes was selected via random drawing this week. She submitted a picture of the buck she killed during the 2018 rifle season. It a significant deer for the 20 year old French.

“I had been there since 4 am and it was almost 10 when I was about to leave and here he came,” she said. “I dropped him and it was the first time I had ever hunted by myself and without my dad.”

Katlyn proudly added she field dressed the animal by herself as well. It was also a significant buck, one that she and her family had been watching on the property where they hunt in Cross Lanes for the past four years. However, they hadn’t seen him in over a year and worried he was not longer around.  It was the first siting anybody had of the buck in over a year.

“We couldn’t find him. I have literally watched that buck grow up,” she said. “I was really lucky to have him walk out when he did. I’ve never killed a deer that late in the morning.”

As her prize, Katlyn will receive the Ram On the Go Prize Package which includes a Ram Grizzly Grip 32 oz Tumbler, Ram Grizzly Grip 20 oz Tumbler, Ram 64 oz Stainless Growler and Ram Insulated Growler Carrier.

The final drawing for the grand prize in our 2018-19 Ram Trophy Photo Contest will be February 18th. There is still time to enter your trophy pictures here.
