Beckley substance abuse professional admits to supplying patient with fentanyl patches

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – A former Beckley substance abuse treatment counselor pleaded guilty Wednesday to the illegal distribution of fentanyl.

David Reeves, 51, admitted to having an inappropriate relationship with a patient at Charleston Treatment Center, where he worked between 2016 and October 2018 as a counselor.

Reeves stole fentanyl patches from his wife’s supply and provided the drugs to the patient, who was undergoing treatment for opioid addiction.

Reeves will be sentenced May 15 and faces up to 20 years in prison.
