Dodrill to be new state insurance commissioner

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Gov. Jim Justice announced Monday a new state insurance commissioner.

James Dodrill will take office on March 4; he succeeds Allen McVey, who now leads the Department of Administration.

Dodrill is a graduate of Marshall University and the West Virginia University College of Law. According to a statement from the governor’s office, he worked as corporate claims counsel for Progressive Group of Insurance Companies over the last two decades. Dodrill also has private practice experience.
