MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — WVMetroNews has obtained the contract information for new West Virginia associate athletics director for external football affairs Coleman Barnes.
Barnes, who begins working for the program this week, will make $180,000 with additional incentives available based on the team’s on-field success.
- Big 12 championship appearance: $5,000
- Non-CFP bowl appearance: $10,000
- New Year’s Six bowl appearance: $12,500
- CFP semifinal appearance: $15,000
- National championship game appearance: $20,000

The contract was obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request.
Barnes replaces Alex Hammond, who handled the program’s budget and daily scheduling among other areas of administrative oversight.
Barnes was most recently an associate AD at Utah State and previously worked at Alabama-Birmingham, Miami and Ole Miss. Barnes is a former college teammate of West Virginia coach Neal Brown at Kentucky.
