Charges filed in Ritchie County shooting death

UPDATE 9:30 p.m. Friday 

State police charged Chester Baughman, 28, of Ritchie County, with murder in the shooting death of Milton Ruble, 26, of Wood County.

Ruble was allegedly shot at Baughman’s residence in an argument over stolen gasoline. His body was found in a wooded area of Ritchie County.

Baughman is being held in the North Central Regional Jail without bail.

DALLISON, W.Va. — An individual wanted for a shooting in Ritchie County was found in Wood County on Friday.

The Wood County Sheriff’s Office announced on Friday that they assisted in a manhunt with the Ritchie County Sheriff’s Office, West Virginia State Police (WVSP), West Virginia Natural Resources Police, Parkersburg Violent Crime and Narcotics Task Force, Parkersburg Police, the Wood County 911 Incident Command Vehicle and helicopters from the WVSP and West Virginia Air Guard.

The individual, that was wanted for a shooting in an earlier date, was located Friday in a wooded area of Dallison and taken into custody without incident, per release.

The search took just a few hours according to the Wood County Sheriff’s Office and said the WVSP and Ritchie County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the shooting which will include releasing the names of the suspect and victim of the crime.

The Wood County Sheriff’s Office said that due to the great inter-agency cooperation from everyone involved, a very bad situation ended in the arrest of a dangerous perpetrator.
