Marshall posts impressive win at Louisiana Tech

RUSTON, La. –  Marshall capitalized on some of its best shooting of the season to beat Louisiana Tech 90-79 on Wednesday night.

The Thundering Herd hit 16-of-32 3-point attempts. Marshall made 29-of-57 shots overall for 52.7 percent, its best overall percentage since it shot 52.7 against Old Dominion on Jan. 3 in Norfolk, Va.

For Marshall (15-13, 8-7 C-USA), it was the first of four games in the league’s Bonus Play. For La. Tech (18-11, 8-8) it was the first home defeat this season. The Bulldogs had won 15 straight, one an overtime decision over Marshall.

Senior guard Jon Elmore led Marshall with a game-high 34 points, moving within five points of from becoming C-USA’s all-time leading scorer. He went 10-for-17 from the field and 5-for-10 from 3. Elmore also made 9-of-9 free throws and dished out seven assists and pulled down six rebounds.

It was Marshall’s first game in 12 days and first league road win since Jan. 5 at Charlotte.

Jannson Williams added 11 points and 10 rebounds for his second double-double. Jarrod West made 4-of-6 from 3 on the way to scoring 15 points.
