Wheeling Park, GW, Bridgeport & Williamstown lead in MVB Champions Cup

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. — Wheeling Park, George Washington, Bridgeport and Williamstown lead the way in the latest release of the MVB Champions Cup standings. Swimming and wrestling are reflected in the recent update. The winter sports season will conclude at the end of basketball season.

In Class AAA, Wheeling Park leads the way in the boys standings with 568 points. The Patriot wrestlers finished as state runners-up and the swim team finished third. Parkersburg, Hurricane, Hedgesville and George Washington complete the top five.

The George Washington ladies continue to lead the Class AAA girls standings. GW finished sixth in the state swim championships. Morgantown, Wheeling Park, Hurricane and University complete the top five.

In Class AA, the Bridgeport boys and girls lead in their respective categories. The BHS boys swim team won the state championship and their wrestlers finished seventh. Winfield, Robert C. Byrd, Fairmont Senior and East Fairmont comprise the rest of the top five. The Bridgeport girls used a runner-up finish at the state swimming championships to pass Winfield for the top spot. The Generals, Fairmont Senior, Robert C. Byrd and Oak Glen round out the top five.

Williamstown continues to lead both Class A competitions. The WHS boys are followed by Wheeling Central, Charleston Catholic, Ravenswood and Doddridge County. The Williamstown girls lead Charleston Catholic, Doddridge County, Wheeling Central and Tug Valley.
