Justice makes judicial appointments in busy circuits

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Gov. Jim Justice made two judicial appointments Wednesday, filling vacancies in the eastern panhandle and Monongalia County.

Justice appointed former longtime Morgan County Prosecutor Debra McLaughlin to replace the retired Christopher Wilkes in the 23rd Judicial Circuit that covers Berkeley, Morgan and Jefferson counties.

McLaughlin previously served as one of the judges in that circuit in 2016-2017.

Justice also appointed Debra Scudiere of Morgantown to be the new judge in Monongalia County replacing Circuit Judge Russell Clawges who also retired.

Scudiere has worked for the law firm of Kay, Casto & Chaney.
