Mount Olive inmate sentenced to life in prison after killing inmate

FAYETTEVILLE, W.Va. — An Mount Olive Correctional Complex inmate will spend life in prison after beating another inmate to death in April 2017.

John A. Nicholson beat Earl Parsons to death with a lid from a hard-composite locker box in a shared cell. According to witnesses, Nicholson also kicked Parsons in the head while he was on the floor.

Nicholson is already serving time for multiple sexual offenses against a child.

He was sentenced Wednesday to life in prison without mercy following a two-day jury trial.
