Report of shots fired in Fayette County leads to arrest

MEADOW BRIDGE, W.Va. — A man accused of firing a gun near a Fayette County home is in custody.

Sheriff’s deputies were called Friday to a residence in the Meadow Bridge community near Rainelle. According to authorities, a caller said a man with a gun was shooting toward him. Officers found Michael Paul Sullivan, 31, of Summers County, armed with a handgun. They also discovered two bullet holes in a structure.

Sullivan faces charges of being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm, shooting a gun within 500 feet of a dwelling, and wanton endangerment. He is being held at Southern Regional Jail.

The motive for the incident remains under investigation.
