KEYSER, W.Va. — A big crowd is expected at West Virginia University Potomac State College in Mineral County for the 7th Annual STEM Festival this Saturday.
Stacey Huffman, the WVU agricultural extension service agent for Mineral County, said with kids, teens, their parents and others who show up for the free science, technology, engineering and math event attendance could top 1,000.
“The neat thing is, when you bring your kids, the adults always learn things too,” she told MetroNews.
“It’s a really fun way to learn anything from animal science, plant science to engineering.”
Interactive activities will be set up across Potomac State’s campus in Keyser.
“We have all kinds of different community members and community agencies coming out to Potomac State to offer all these fun, hands-on learning activities for kids,” Huffman said.
Activities include a drone obstacle course, robotics, rocket making, cycling engineering and wildlife and fisheries presentations.
“I think that’s the ultimate goal — to make science fun,” Huffman said.
The STEM Festival runs from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 30.
