One dead in Charleston shooting

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — One Charleston man is dead and another is being sought on a charge of first degree murder stemming from a Saturday morning shooting on the city’s west side.

The victim is identified as Robert Seawright Jr., 32, of Charleston. He was shot once in the head according to police. Warrants were issued Saturday morning for Gerard Matthew Spencer, 35, of Charleston. He’s wanted for the shooting which happened around 2:30 a.m.

Detective say the shooting stemmed from a neighborhood dispute. Seawright was in the process of moving out of the apartment next door to Spencer. An argument broke out and escalated to gunfire.

Police continue their hunt for Spencer.
