Police release photo of suspect’s car in fatal Fairmont shooting

FAIRMONT, W.Va. — A Fairmont man is dead following a shooting Wednesday afternoon.

A 27-year-old man, currently unidentified, died after someone fired a single gunshot along Hawthorne Street.

When police arrived on scene, the victim was still alive, but died as a result of his wound while neighbors were attempting to administer aid.

Investigators believe the attack was targeted.

No description of a suspect is currently available, but police believe the suspect was driving a silver Hyundai Accent sedan, likely between model year 2011 and 2017.

Police are additionally asking anyone who may have video showing the roadways of Hawthorne Street, Oliver Avenue, Field Street, or the 500 to 900 block of Locust Avenue during the approximate time of the shooting — before 1 p.m. Wednesday — to make contact with investigators.
