MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Devell Washington, a 6-foot-4, 215-pound wide receiver from Bay City, Mich., became the third player to make a verbal commitment to West Virginia in the 2020 recruiting class on Saturday.
Washington is a three-star prospect according to Rivals. He is currently the No. 9 overall prospect in Michigan for his class. His primary recruiters are Al Pogue and Xavier Dye.
Washington made his second visit to WVU for the spring game, following up on a previous trip in February. He had also taken visits to Central Michigan, Michigan, Michigan State and Ohio State last year. Washington also has offers from Iowa State and Purdue, among others.
All three of West Virginia’s junior commitments are offensive players. Washington joins Danville (Ky.) Boyle County wide receiver Reese Smith and Tallahassee (Fla.) Chiles quarterback Garrett Greene in choosing the Mountaineers since Neal Brown took over the program in January.
Verbal commitments are non-binding until December’s national signing day.
