Stormy end of weekend predicted for Mountain State

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for the entire state of West Virginia Sunday.

According to meteorologists, widely scattered thunderstorms are possible during the morning hours. Those storms could include small hail.More widespread severe weather is in the forecast for Sunday afternoon.

The weather statement said:

“Strong to severe storms are expected to develop in the afternoon and gradually merge into a line of thunderstorms.
Damaging winds will be the primary severe weather threat, although a few severe hail stones and even a brief tornado may also occur. Locally higher rainfall could lead to high water impacts as well.

“In addition to the severe weather threat, a period of breezy to windy conditions may occur by late afternoon and tonight. A Wind Advisory may eventually be required for the area.”

Cooler temperatures are in the forecast for Monday statewide.
