One dead, two injured in Mercer County collision

BRUSHFORK, W.Va. — Authorities in Mercer County have confirmed one person died in a two-vehicle collision Tuesday near Bluefield.

According to authorities, the incident happened at approximately 7 a.m., when a pickup truck struck a passenger vehicle on Airport Road.

The driver of the car, an adult male whose identity was not released, reportedly died at the scene. Two people inside the pickup were taken to a nearby hospital with injuries described as serious.

The Mercer County Sheriff’s Department, Bluefield Rescue, and the Bluewell Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
