Raleigh authorities say man killed mother, injured stepfather in Easter attack

STANAFORD, W.VA. — A man is charged with killing his mother and critically injuring his step-father at the couple’s home in Raleigh County Easter Sunday morning.

Sheriff’s deputies who responded to a domestic violence call on Grear Lane in Stanaford said, when they arrived, they saw Rodney Scott Bailey, 46, assaulting Betsy Aldridge. He was immediately restrained and taken into custody. Inside the residence, the deputies found Gary Aldridge who had suffered injuries described as severe.

Betsy Aldridge later died at Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital. Gary Aldridge is in critical condition at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.

Bailey is charged with murder and malicious wounding. He is being held without bail at the Southern Regional Jail.
