BLUEFIELD, W.Va. — A man was charged with being in possession of a stolen vehicle and DUI, after reportedly causing a four-car accident Monday in Mercer County.
Bluefield Police said the incident occurred on John Nash Boulevard in an area where road construction was taking place. Three vehicles were stopped by a flagger near Exit 1 leading onto Interstate 77, when a fourth vehicle being driven by the suspect, identified as John Webb, 25, of Bluefield, crashed into the back of one of the three stopped cars, causing a chain reaction collision.
A female occupant in one of the vehicles was transported to a local hospital, although an officer at the scene said the woman’s injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.
Webb was taken into custody at the scene. The vehicle he was driving had been reported stolen in Bland County, Va.
