One dead, five injured in McDowell County collision

IAEGER, W.Va. — A two-vehicle crash left one person dead and five others injured Monday in McDowell County.

According to the sheriff’s office, a car collided with a van on US Route 52 in Iaeger. The driver of the car reportedly died at the scene. Five other people, including two children, were hospitalized.  The extent of their injuries was not disclosed. The identities of the victims were not released.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. A McDowell County Sheriff’s Department spokesperson said charges are expected against the driver of the van.
