MADISON, W.Va. — A smaller budget in Boone County will mean up to 10 positions will be eliminated.
The Boone County Commission said Wednesday multiple departments will be affected by a cut of more than $1 million from the budget currently in place.
Next year’s budget is worth $7.2 million, while the current budget is $8.5 million.
According to the WSAZ-TV, the cuts are related to decreased tax revenue and fewer operating coal mines.
The affected departments include the county commission, county clerk, circuit court clerk, county assessor, prosecutor’s office and the sheriff’s department.
The cuts will go into effect by the start of next month.
