Train derailment reported in McDowell County

MCDOWELL COUNTY, W.Va. —  A partial train derailment occurred between Iaeger and Roderfield in McDowell County Thursday.

According to the McDowell County Sheriff’s Department, one of the train’s cars derailed and struck the underpass that crosses U.S. Route 52, causing an axle and other debris to separate from the train and land on the roadway, a section of which was reduced to one lane, while the debris was being cleared.

There were no reports of injuries.

In addition to sheriff’s deputies, Roderfield Fire Department and Northfork Fire Department responded to the scene.
