SAINT ALBANS, W.Va. — Capital secured third place in the MSAC Tournament with a 6-4 win over George Washington Tuesday afternoon.
The Cougars took a 3-0 lead just four batters into the bottom of the first inning when Michael Stuck smashed a 3-run homer. The Patriots (15-15) scored a pair of runs in the second inning to creep within a run but the Cougars did not relinquish the lead for the rest of the game.
Chris Crowder had a pair of hits and an RBI single for the Cougars. Tanner Williams led the Patriot offensive attack with a three-hit game.
Andrew Sydenstricker picked up the win on the mound for Capital (14-7). He allowed just three runs in six innings while scattering nine hits. Logan Spurlock allowed one run in the seventh but pitched out of a bases loaded jam to collect the save.
