Parkersburg, Wheeling Park, Bridgeport & Williamstown lead in MVB Cup

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. — Parkersburg, Wheeling Park, Bridgeport and Williamstown lead the way in the latest MVB Champions Cup standings. The first update of the spring sports season includes results from the state tennis tournament.

In Class AAA, Parkersburg has taken the lead in the boys competition. Their runner-up finish in tennis has vaulted the Big Reds over Wheeling Park. State tennis champ George Washington has climbed to second. Wheeling Park, University and Hurricane complete the top five.

The Class AAA girls race has tightened at the top. Wheeling Park leads but George Washington and Morgantown are within striking distance. MHS climbed from fourth to third after winning the state tennis title. Hurricane and University are fourth and third respectively.

In Class AA, the Bridgeport boys and girls lead in their respective categories. Fairmont Senior, Winfield, Robert C. Byrd and East Fairmont comprise the rest of the top five. The Bridgeport girls hold the top spot but Winfield has narrowed the gap after a runner-up finish in tennis. Fairmont Senior, Robert C. Byrd are third and fourth and Logan enters the top five.

Williamstown continues to lead both Class A competitions. Its boys are followed by Wheeling Central, Charleston Catholic, Ravenswood and Magnolia. The Williamstown girls lead Wheeling Central, Parkersburg Catholic, Charleston Catholic and Magnolia.
