Weston man arrested after fatal weekend shooting

WESTON, W.Va. — A Lewis County man was arrested following a fatal weekend shooting.

Ronnie Glenn Simons Jr., 56, of Weston, has been charged with first-degree murder for the death of Joshua Runyon. According to authorities, Runyon was shot in the head at a home on U.S. Highway 33 in Weston on Saturday.

Simons told authorities he shot Runyon but did not know the location of the firearm. A witness told police he received the firearm, a .380 caliber pistol, following the shooting. The witness put the gun in a plastic bag and buried it in a sand pile at Shriver’s Trucking.

Runyon was pronounced dead on Sunday at Ruby Memorial Hospital.

Simons is being held at North Central Regional Jail.
