SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A South Charleston Police Department cruiser was destroyed by a train Sunday afternoon moments after an officer had exited the vehicle.
The cruiser got stuck on the CSX tracks near Montrose Drive during a pursuit. The department posted an update on Instagram Sunday night.
“An update…. All three suspects that led to an SCPD cruiser being struck by a train, after an attempted traffic stop for various traffic offenses, and subsequent pursuit, have been captured and now face a multitude of charges.”
The pursuit began at just before 3 p.m. on MacCorkle Avenue after the driver refused to stop after police noticed some burned out lights and no windows in the vehicle.
The car was found later on Danner Road and the driver, Shyanne Carrino, 27, of Leon in Mason County, was arrested on Mountain Road in Charleston. She was in the South Central Regional Jail Sunday night.
Police later took two passengers into custody.
