CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Former state Public Service Commission Chairwoman Charlotte Lane will return to that position next month after being appointed Friday by Gov. Jim Justice.
Lane, who served as PSC chair from 1997-2001 under then-Gov. Cecil Underwood, will replace longtime PSC Chairman Mike Albert whose term ends June 30. Albert’s been a member of the PSC for 12 years.
“My plan is to assist in any transition as I complete my current term and then disappear quietly into the life of this community,” Albert said when he announced his retirement back in February.
Lane, a Republican, has also served stints as U.S. Attorney and as a member of the United States International Trade Commission. Most recently Lane served a two-year term, 2017-2019, in the House of Delegates representing Kanawha County’s 35th Delegate District. She was also in the House for short periods of time in the 1970’s and 1990’s.
Lane, 71, is a Pleasants County native. She lives in Charleston.
