Two injured in Berkeley plane crash

HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. — Two people were injured in a plane crash Friday evening in Berkeley County, authorities said.

The aircraft, described as a lightweight plane, had just taken off minutes earlier from Green Landings Airport near Hedgesville when it crashed as the pilot was trying to get the plane back to the airport.

The Herald-Mail reports the plane hit a fence and parked pick-up truck. The pilot was able to avoid two houses next to the airport.

Investigators said both the pilot and passenger were injured. The woman passenger suffered a serious leg injury.

There was no early word on what may have caused the crash.
