Mercer County pastor accused of sexual assault

BLUEFIELD, W.Va. — A pastor at the Greater Tabernacle of Faith Apostolic Church in Bluefield has been charged with sexually abusing a mentally handicapped man.

According to court documents, the 25-year-old man’s family told officers he had left the house with Pastor Anderson H. Martin II, and returned home wearing different clothes. When questioned, the alleged victim reportedly said he had been at Martin’s home, where Martin undressed him, put him in the bathroom shower, and molested him, under the pretense of teaching the man how to wash himself properly.

Investigators said a sexual assault kit indicated the man had been sexually abused.

Following his arrest by Bluefield Police, Martin was indicted by a Mercer County grand jury on third-degree sexual assault and second-degree sexual abuse charges.
