Police: Motorcyclist who assaulted DOH worker turns self in

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. — A motorcyclist who allegedly assaulted a West Virginia Division of Highways worker has turned himself in.

On June 13, the DOH was working at Potomac River Bridge near the Bavarian Inn Wednesday when a motorcyclist, waiting in traffic, moved ahead of a few motorists and was told to wait by a DOH flagman.

According to police, the motorcyclist slowed down and then accelerated toward the flagman lowering his shoulder and making contact with the flagman’s shoulder. The motorcyclist kept going across the bridge. The worker had to go to a hospital for treatment.

Shepherdstown Police confirmed Tuesday that charges against the man who turned himself in are pending.
