1 killed, 3 injured in I-81 crash near Martinsburg

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — A Pennsylvania woman is dead and three others injured following a crash on I-81 in Berkeley County.

West Virginia State Police confirm the incident started with a brief pursuit at 9 Monday evening near mile marker 14 northbound. The vehicle the victim was in was seen merging onto I-81 at the Dry Run Road interchange in an “erratic manner”, according to Sgt. J.D. Burkhart.

The vehicle went off of the road at mile marker 16 and crashed into a WVDOH fence. Troopers confirm the victim was a female passenger from Chambersburg, Pennsylvania.

Three other occupants were taken to area hospitals for treatment.

A man identified as 36 year-old Apollo Bey of Hagerstown, Maryland, was listed in critical condition. Troopers have identified Bey as the driver and charges are pending.

Troopers have not released the Chambersburg woman’s name as they are still attempting to locate her family.
