Pavement repair forces brief closure of Yeager Airport Monday afternoon

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — An emergency pavement repair forced Yeager Airport to close for a brief period Monday afternoon.

Airport officials said there was a pavement issue on Runway 5/23 approximately 2,200 feet from the end of the runway that closed services for around 90 minutes, beginning around Noon.

According to a release from the airport, West Virginia Paving and engineers were on site to mitigate the issue.

“We would like to apologize to our traveling customers for any inconvenience this may cause, but the safety of our passengers is our number one priority,” Yeager Airport Director Terry Sayre said in a release.

As of 1:30 p.m. on Monday, the airport was back open.
