Sheriff: Longstanding dispute at center of Ritchie County deadly shooting

PENNSBORO, W.Va. — A man was shot and killed at a business in Ritchie County Tuesday morning following a dispute between the man and a worker.

The shooting occurred at the Ace Home Center in Pennsboro just off of U.S. Route 50.

According to a news release from the Ritchie County Sheriff’s Department, there’s been a longstanding dispute between Ace worker Johnny Gregg, 66, and Brian Cronin, 59, both of St. Marys.

Cronin came to the store Tuesday morning and confronted Gregg. Authorities said there was gunfire and Cronin was shot and killed while in his car.

Gregg has been questioned by police but has not been charged.

The Ritchie County Sheriff’s Department is investigating.
