Charleston man admits to killing wife

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A Charleston man faces a first-degree murder charge after admitting to killing his wife.

Frank Jay Cantley, 44, of Charleston, called officers to a Tinder Avenue residence Saturday night, telling officers his wife, Stephanie Cantley, had overdosed.

Authorities said the woman had “obvious bruising around her neck” consistent with strangulation, in addition to other signs of suffocation.

When police questioned Cantley, he admitted to killing his wife.

“I was mad,” he said according to the Charleston Police Department.

Cantley is at the South Central Regional Jail and is being held without bond.
