Caretaker charged after alleged incident in Clarksburg bathroom

HARRISON COUNTY, W.Va. — A Barbour County man has been charged after leaving the person they were responsible for keeping in a Walmart bathroom for an extended period of time.

Jacob Willard, 24, of Phillip, allowed Brett Lantz to enter the men’s bathroom at the Walmart on Emily Drive in Clarksburg on June 9. Willard sat on a bench while Lantz was in the restroom.

According to police, Lantz was not supposed to be left alone because of previous violent and sexual outbursts. Officers alleged a sex crime happened, saying Lantz inappropriately touched a young male.

Willard is charged with abuse or neglect of an incapacitated adult.
