Williams enters plea deal on June 2018 beating

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A Clarksburg man pleaded guilty on Monday to voluntary manslaughter in connection to a 2018 beating death.

Anthony James Williams, 33, was facing a second-degree murder charge for the June 2018 death of 47-year-old Rodney Long Jr., also of Clarksburg. Police said Williams struck Long in the head and body.

Long was found unresponsive in Arbutus Park; he later died of his injuries.

Williams now faces three to 15 years in prison. He will be sentenced September 6.
