Wyoming County man charged in fatal shooting of girlfriend

GLEN ROGERS, W.Va. —  A Wyoming County man has been charged with murder, following a fatal shooting in Glen Rogers.

The sheriff’s department released information Thursday about the incident, which reportedly occurred Wednesday, when deputies responded to a call about a possible shooting and found the victim, 29-year-old Shelley Lynn Gillespie of Glen Rogers, with a single gunshot wound to the head.

Gillespie was transported from the scene by EMS and died en route to the hospital.

An investigation led to the arrest of Gavin Lee Mongold of Glen Rogers, who was charged with first degree murder.

Mongold is being held at Southern Regional Jail awaiting arraignment.
