Four-time defending champs too much for Best Virginia in TBT

RICHMOND, Va. – No. 4 Best Virginia entered Saturday’s game against No. 1 Overseas Elite with the hopes to topple the four-time reigning Goliath. That wasn’t the case, however, as the West Virginia alumni team went down as their opponent’s 27th consecutive win amid an 80-68 victory.

Kevin Jones once again led Best Virginia with 20 points, nearly posting a double-double with eight boards. Jones was mostly assisted by Devin Williams off of the bench with 14 points. Williams did manage a double-double with 16 rebounds, while also picking off two steals. Jaysean Paige contributed 11 points, three rebounds, five assists and four steals.

For forcing 20 turnovers, Best Virginia couldn’t cash in  – posting just 14 points. That was one area where Overseas Elite excelled, turning Best Virginia’s 12 turnovers into 24 points.

The undefeated crew’s starting five were all in the double digits, led by Jeremy Pargo with 20 points and six assists. DJ Kennedy had 12 points, while Justin Burrell logged a double-double with 11 points and a team-high 10 boards. DeAndre Kane matched Burrell with 11 points of his own.

Overseas Elite outshot Best Virginia from the floor, draining 54 percent of their shots compared to the WVU crew’s 30 percent.

The loss knocks Best Virginia out of the running for the $2 million prize. Overseas Elite will play the winner of the matchup between No. 6 The Web and No. 7 Team DRC in the Super 16.
