Italy-based energy company opens Weirton manufacturing operation

WEIRTON, W.Va. — An Italy-based energy company’s first permanent operation in the United States is now open in Hancock County.

Pietro Fiorentini officials, state, city and county leaders held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Monday in Weirton to open the energy company’s manufacturing operation.

Gov. Jim Justice, U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito, and 1st District Congressman David McKinley were in attendance to celebrate the new business. McKinley said the company will bring around 100 jobs to Weirton.

The operation had ground broken in 2017.

According to Pietro Fiorentini’s website, the Weirton operation will feature the production of gas pressure regulators and natural gas treatment plants.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency was also on hand for the ceremony of the $9 million facility. The operations center sits on former Brownfields coal site at the Three Springs Business Park.
