Settlement reached in lawsuit between Clarksburg and suspended city manager

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — A settlement has been reached in the lawsuit filed by Clarksburg City Manager Martin Howe against the city of Clarksburg.

Howe, who has been suspended 30 days since July 11 by city council members, will receive a severance package of more than $200,000 from the city as part of the agreement.

Howe faced allegations of urban decay, misappropriating funds and unprofessionalism.

His employment with the city will end on August 9.

Clarksburg City Clerk Annette Wright, who announced the settlement, has been serving at the Interim City Manager.
