Autopsy scheduled after guide’s body found in Potomac River

HARPERS FERRY, W.Va. — The body of a Jefferson County river guide is at the state Medical Examiner’s Office in Charleston following his death earlier this week.

Michael Clevenger, 32, of Harpers Ferry, was found in a kayak on a rock near some rapids in the Potomac River Thursday, according to the Herald-Mail.

Clevenger worked for Harpers Ferry Adventure Center. Part of his job was to help tubers on the Potomac.

According to investigators with the Maryland Natural Resources Police, Clevenger was wearing life jacket. His bodily was partially submerged.

An autopsy is scheduled to be conducted on the body.
