Justice announces committees to help with census

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The state is planning to roll out volunteer committees to help with next year’s U.S. Census.

Gov. Jim Justice on Friday announced plans to establish a Complete Count Committee, which government or community officials will participate in to motivate people to take part in the census.

Committee members work with public offices and local businesses to increase awareness about the census and the importance of accurate measurements.

Appointments to a statewide committee will be made after it is established.

Several local governments have also established their own committees. According to the governor’s office, there were more than 10,000 such bodies across the country.
