CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The West Virginia Lottery has been recognized yet again by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada for its annual financial report.
The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting recognizes state and local governments who provide comprehensive annual financial reports that showcase transparency. This year marks the 22nd consecutive year the state Lottery has been recognized.
“Earning this honor for 22 consecutive years is a testament to the West Virginia Lottery’s long-standing commitment to the public’s trust,” said John Myers, the state lottery director. “Our mission is to generate proceeds that benefit the people of West Virginia and our staff takes great pride in the quality, transparency, and accuracy of our financial reporting to those we serve.”
Staff and the association’s Special Review Committee review submitted reports; this includes people with financial reporting experience, independent auditors, academics and other professionals.
