2 people sentenced to life in prison for 2017 murder

WOOD COUNTY, W.Va. — A man and woman were sentenced to life in prison on Monday in connection with the December 2017 death of a Parkersburg woman.

Jessica Roberts, 27, and Kenneth McCoy Jr., 35, were found guilty in June for the death of Penni Jo Curtiss. The victim’s body was found inside her Tygart Street home.

Roberts and McCory were later found at a Florida Walmart.

The two were found guilty of multiple charges, including first-degree murder, four counts of conspiracy to commit a criminal offense, felony murder, first-degree robbery, burglary and grand larceny.

The jury determined Roberts would be eligible for mercy, but not McCoy.
