Annual Mountain Mama Regatta to benefit Hospice of Southern W.Va.

SUMMERSVILLE, W.Va. – Dozens of sailors and kayakers are expected to compete in this weekend’s Eighth Annual Sewell Mountain Sailing Association Mountain Mama Hospice Regatta at Summersville Lake near Battle Run Beach.

In addition to sailboat and kayak races, a silent auction and children’s carnival will be part of this year’s activities, according to Hospice of Southern West Virginia/Bowers Hospice House Director of Public Relations Tim Carrico.

The annual event has raised more than $50,000 since 2011, with funds being used to benefit hospice patients and their families in Raleigh, Fayette, Summers and Wyoming counties.

The Mountain Mama Hospice Regatta takes place Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., both days.

Competitors can register the day of the event. More information is available at the Sewell Mountain Sailing Association’s website.
